OVERSEAS CITIZENSHIP OF INDIA SCHEME
An Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) has been introduced for registering Person of Indian Origin of all nationalities other than Pakistan and Bangladesh which allows citizenship under their local laws. Following benefits would be available to register OCI :
Every registered OCI will be issued a registration certificate and an OCI visa sticker will be pasted in the person's foreign passport. A person eligible for grant; of Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) shall apply in the Indian Mission of the country of his/her nationality or in the Indian post of the country where he/she is ordinarily residing.
ELIGIBLE CONDITIONS: An OCI applicant will have to submit proof of his/her parents/grandparents having migrated from India after 26th January, 1950 or having been eligible to be granted Indian citizenship on that date or having been resident of such territories like Goa, Pondicherry, Sikkim which have been merged with the Indian Union after 15th August, 1947. A person claiming eligibility on the basis of Indian citizenship of his/her parents/grand parents will also submit a proof of his/her relationship with such person.
FEE The applicants are required to pay fee of Indonesian Rp.3 .470.000,- alongwith the application in cash. In case of rejection of the application, an amount equal to USD 25 would be deducted towards processing charges. PIO card holders are also eleigible for OCI. Such an applicant is required to pay fees of Indonesian Rp. 315.000/- PIO card holders also are eligible for grant of OCI, would have to pay US$ 25/-or equivalent in the local currency. Fee can be deposited either in cash or in Consulate’s bank account No. 008-128191-068 with HSBC, Medan and attach the deposit slip in original with the application. Applicants are advised to submit two latest identical colour studio square photographs of 3.5 cm x 3.5 cm without border. Photographs should have light background (preferably white or off-white). Black and white photograph, photograph with coloured or dark glasses, dark background or in uniform, Polaroid prints or computer prints will not be accepted. The photo print should be clear, without any shadow and should have full face, front view and eyes open. The photograph should show the frontal face of the applicant and the face should occupy 70% of the photograph. There is a possibility of considerable delay in issue of an oci should applicants fail to comply with the instructions relating to photograph
PROCEDURE Application form for OCI would be submitted in two parts, Part "A"’ & "B". Application form is available on website: www.mha.nic.in. Applicant can apply directly online http://ociindia.nic.in/ociindia/OnlineOCIRegistrationG.jsp or may down-load the application form and submit in hand-written format. A reference number would be generated on submission of Part A or application online. The applications would have to be submitted with all necessary supporting documents to the Embassy. Any submission of wrong information or concealing of information could result in the cancellation of OCI certificate even;if already issued and person would be black listed for entry into India.
**. The amount includes an additional fee of Rp. 20.000/- towards Indian Community Welfare Fund for which a separate receipt will be issued.
