Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Card Scheme PIO card is issued to a person of Indian origin. PIO card entitles to the holder, inter alia, visa free entry into India for a period of fifteen years. A foreigner, who held India citizenship in the past or either of his/her parents or grand parents or spouse held Indian citizenship and permanently resided in India is eligible for the PIO Card. Fees for PIO card is Rp. 3.520.000/-. The amount includes an additional fee of Rp. 20.000/- towards Indian Community Welfare Fund for which a separate receipt will be issued. Fee can be deposited either in cash or in Consulate’s bank account No. 008-128191-068 with HSBC, Medan and attach the deposit slip in original with the application. The Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs launched a comprehensive scheme for the persons of Indian origin - called 'PIO' Card Scheme. Under this scheme persons of Indian origin up to the fourth generation (great grand parents settled through out the world except citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries as may be specified by the Central Government from time to time), would be eligible. The Card would be issued to eligible applicants through concerned Indian Embassies/High Commissions/Consulates and for those staying in India on long-term visa (more than one year), the concerned Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai) would do the same.
